The ins and outs of the decision-making process

European Supervisory Authorities, regulatory technical standards, expert groups, delegated acts…when working on EU financial services, these terms might ring a bell or even be familiar to you. But do you have a thorough, operational understanding of how they fit together?

With this in mind, PACT European Affairs and APCO Worldwide have decided to combine their procedural and technical expertise in the field of European financial services by publishing a new book, the first of its kind

Trainings

Alongside the promotion of EU Financial Services: The ins and outs of the Decision-making Process, APCO Worldwide and PACT European Affairs will be organising dedicated workshops on the basis of the book, as well as offering tailored webinars and coaching sessions.

These sessions will give stakeholders valuable opportunities to further their understanding of the themes covered by the book and benefit from the authors’ expert know-how in an interactive setting.

Other services

As mentioned above, the book is a first step, a starting point. It forms the cornerstone for a broad range of services in the field of EU financial regulation, including monitoring, legal analysis and advice on strategy and lobbying.

In this sense, PACT and APCO recognise the importance of not only gaining the knowledge but also applying it to concrete, everyday files.

Why this book ?

Since the economic crisis of 2008 and the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty in 2009, the decision-making process for EU financial services has become multi-layered and extremely complex. Until now, there has been no publication that explains how the system works in a clear, methodical and user-friendly way.

The goal of the PACT-APCO collaboration is to fill this gap. Written by Theo Moore, Steven Corcoran and Vicky Marissen, the book is an indispensable learning tool, providing a first step towards helping stakeholders master the labyrinth of authorities, committees and procedures involved in implementing EU financial services, as well as reinforcing their ability to lobby effectively within it.

Who is the book aimed at?

EU Financial Services: The ins and outs of the Decision-making Process is aimed any person or organisation with a stake in the framework of EU financial services regulation – not just those firms providing banking, insurance or securities services strictly speaking. Legislation like MiFID II has an impact on organisations in a number of sectors (e.g. energy, agriculture) and ultimately on EU citizens themselves.
